How spending and limits work
Work uses your subscription, then any work you added, then stops, and nothing is charged on its own.
The order work is paid in
- Work uses what your subscription includes each month.
- When that is used, work uses the work you added with More Room This Month. The Terms of Service call this Worker balance.
- When that is used too, work stops.
Nothing is charged to your card on its own. Your card pays only the subscription each month, and more work when you add it yourself. Automatic top-ups are off.
Before work stops
When 80 percent of a limit is used, you get a notice that says how much is used and when it comes back, such as "You've used 80 percent of this month's work." On the Mac and the web, it also comes as a notification titled "Cost".
When work stops
The task's chat says which limit was used, when it comes back, and what you can do. For example: "Work stopped: this month's work is used." The notice offers a button for each way on:
- Add More Work buys More Room This Month.
- Move Up moves you to a bigger subscription.
Nothing more is charged unless you choose one.
The week and the five hours free up as time goes by. Work you added is used only once the month's work is used, so it does not lift a weekly or five-hour stop while the month still has work left.
When one task reaches its limit
One task can use at most a fifth of the month. When it gets there, the chat says: "This task reached its limit on Little Worker AI. Send a message to continue, or move up a subscription for a higher limit."
Set a lower limit of your own
- In the web app, open Settings, then Cost.
- Enter an amount under Limit, in dollars a month.
- Click Save Changes.
Work stops when the limit is used. Leave the field empty for none. When work stops there, the notice offers Raise Limit.
Free and your own AI
On a paid subscription, work on your own AI does not count toward your limit.
Free holds 5 work units a month on your own AI. When they are used, work stops until the next month starts: "Work stopped: this month's work on Free is used." Choose a subscription to keep going.
See what is used
- On the web: Settings, then Cost.
- On the Mac: Settings, then Cost and Subscription.
- On iPhone: Settings, then Usage, which shows the fullest limit as a percent and when it frees up.
